A rigger prepares to lower a screening device into Sterling Forest Lake (Blue Lake). The device will prevent large debris from entering the low-level outlet of the lake.

The structural team applies “shotcrete” to the roof parapets of the Maintenance Building. The shotcrete process is faster than conventional methods that use cast-in-place concrete.

Two volunteers from southern California arrive to work with the Plumbing Department. They were among hundreds who came that day to Tuxedo, which serves as a staging area for construction at Warwick. On August 1, a record number of 707 new workers arrived for the project.

Contractors use a crane to lift an exterior wall panel into place. Residence B was the last residence to have wall panels and windows installed.

The bridge connecting Residences C and D is installed by contractors.

The structural crew renovates the primary spillway, which works in conjunction with the dam. The original structure was built in the 1950’s. The renovations compensate for the larger storms and greater rainfall the area now experiences, thus protecting the Warwick site and neighboring properties from flood damage.

To reduce congestion at the site, interior tasks, such as painting and pipe insulating, continue into the night. When the second shift was in operation, hundreds were assigned to work from 3:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

In the rear parking lot, scores of workers await transport to Warwick. A fleet of buses brings workers to and from the construction site.

Three Warwick workers get haircuts. At barber shops in Tuxedo, Warwick, and the warehouse in Montgomery, more than 400 haircuts are given each week.

Forms are set for pouring concrete at the geothermal field. Using 120 wells some 150 meters (500 ft) deep, the system will provide supplementary heating in the winter and cooling in the summer. Geothermal energy reduces costs as well as the environmental footprint of the complex.

Supplies from vendors are received and assembled into kits for specific jobs at the Warwick site.

Between May and August, wall panels and roofs were completed on Residence B, the final residence. All pedestrian bridges between buildings were installed, and work began on several landscaping projects.
