Gems of a Different Kind on Display in Botswana

From August 22 to 28, 2016, Jehovah’s Witnesses in Botswana, home to the world’s richest diamond mine, showcased gems of a different kind at the Botswana Consumer Fair. Their booth featured Bible-based literature, the jw.org website, and videos that promote strong family ties.

Parents and children who visited the booth were captivated by the animated series Become Jehovah’s Friend, which teaches practical application of Bible principles. Because few animated videos are available in Setswana, Botswana’s national language, many attendees asked how they could get the videos.

The visitors, who came from all parts of the country, obtained approximately 10,000 pieces of printed literature, and 120 persons requested a free home Bible study. Many were impressed that Witnesses from both English- and Setswana-language congregations worked side by side at the event.

When the fair’s managers judged the booths and displays at the event, they awarded Jehovah’s Witnesses first prize.
